Lisa Waters spoke on behalf of Aurora University regarding their Celebrating Arts and Ideas lineup. The series offers unique cultural experiences, free of charge, to the greater university community. Through diverse programming, Aurora University continues to feature original and innovative thinkers whose ideas have the power to change our world. The showcase provides an array of entertainment, including musical performances, theatrical productions, art and museum exhibits, films, and educational and leadership presentations that reflect a deep appreciation for the arts. 

The upcoming speakers are: 

Michelle Areyzaga, Saturday, November 2, 2013; 7:30 p.m. A diverse and coveted soprano, Areyzaga is much in demand among highly regarded companies in the United States and Europe. She has sung most recently with the New York City Opera in her debut (Orpheus-Telemann) and has appeared with Chicago Opera Theater. Neil deGrasse Tyson, Wednesday, March 12, 2014; 7:30 p.m. Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium and author of Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier, which features his thoughts on space exploration. His presentations bring the science of the universe down to Earth and make astrophysics interesting for all. 

Music of the Baroque, Classical Ensemble, Wednesday, April 2, 2014; 7:30 p.m. One of Chicagoland’s top classical groups, Music of the Baroque focuses on 18th-century works for chorus and orchestra. Sixty of the Chicago area’s finest professional musicians comprise the chorus and orchestra. At this event the ensemble will perform Haydn’s The Creation.
