Rotary Board member Dave Pedersen, Treasure Molly Schrader, and Club President Tim Wulff presented Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry director Linda Dahms-Firth with a check for $3,391.00.  This check is a combined effort of proceeds from the Batavia Rotary Clubs weekly member 50/50 drawing, the Rotary Club of Batavia’s annual fundraiser, and a $1,000 matching grant from Rotary District 6440.

Food pantry director Linda Dahms-Firth stated “that for each $1.00 cash donation they receive, the food pantry is able to purchase $10.00 worth of groceries for clients they serve.   So our donation today will enable the pantry to purchase $33,910.00 in food.    The need has never been greater with 433 families from Batavia Township being served in the month of October.  The pantry purchases and distributes 1 to 1 1/2 tons of bulk food products each week from the local food co-op Northern Illinois Food Bank”

The Rotary Club of Batavia is an ongoing supporter of the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry not only monetarily, but in member donated service hours.  Under the direction of Club Community Service Chairman - Leo Heska, Batavia Rotarians have volunteered time including most recently on October 31st and November 14th.  – “Service Above Self”
